Changes to the forum

Postby Alaid on Sat 6. Feb 2010, 01:56

Currently, we are looking for more people to join our team. Are you interested? Read more!

Dear valued users,

We have changed following settings in the forum already:
  • The number of messages, which can be stored in every folder in the forum message box will be raised by 300% (from 50 to 200 messages per folder).
  • The "Spoiler"-BBCode has been activated. This is a function, which allows you to hide anything between the Spoiler-Brackets, so that anyone who wants to read it can open it and anyone else doesn't have to. An example is below.
  • Text in posts can be centered now.

Spoiler: show
I am a spoiler. If you click "Show" you will see this text - If you don't, you won't. If you click "Hide", it will hide the text again.

On Saturday, the 13th of February 2010 between 06:00 and 08:00 server time some changes will be made to the forum. During this time, the forum will be kept available as far as possible.

These are changes to improve the usability of the forum and to help raise the activity in the forum.

Following changes will be taken:

Private messaging & signatures

  • If a folder is full, new messages won't be withheld any further - Instead the oldest message in the folder will be deleted.
  • The maximum number of recipients of a private message in the forum will be set to 5 (To prevent private message spamming to a certain extent)
  • To help increase the readability, the maximum size of writing in the signature will be lowered to 150%.
  • Users will only be able to have 2 links in their signature in future, to prevent advertisement.

Forum posts

  • Queued posts: Anyone, who has posted less than 1 post in the forum (Therefore if it is the first post), will have to have the post approved by a moderator. This is to prevent spam bot activities. Until the post is approved, the post won't be published.
  • The time, in which you are able to edit your posts, will be set to 10 minutes. This is to let users correct any mistakes, they notice after postings. Please continue to use the "Preview"-function, as this can help beforehand.
  • The time, which users are required to wait between posting two posts will be raised to 40 seconds - This is to help prevent spamming.

Guild boards

  • Any guild of the size of 3 or more members will be able to apply for a guild board in the forum. This is an area of the forum, which can only be viewed by users, who have been accepted by the guild leader in the forum group. This area will be at the top of the forum. A post will be made, in which this will be noted.

At the same time, the forum layout will be changed. This should make the forum tidier and it should be easier to find your way around it.

The forum will look like this in future:

- Guildboards
- Xhodon in General
  • News, Information & Announcements
  • Events
  • Questions, Game Strategies & Utilities
  • Ideas
  • Bugs & Errors
  • Praise & Complaints
- Role-Play and Players
  • Player's introductions
  • Storyline
  • Poems, Poetry & Stories
- The Troll World
  • War declarations & Captured Artifacts
  • Battle Reports & Diplomacy
  • Market Place (I need, I offer, Pearls (Runes), Special Trade) - Finished trade will be deleted
  • Guilds (Shadow Guilds, Light Guilds, Guild Search, Member Search
  • The Felùndin have heard
- Off-Topic
  • OMs (Offline-Meetings) & Conventions
  • Forum Games, Videos & Funny Stuff

As it is explained above, everyone who applies for it can have one. This is for those, who don't wish to have an external board or for some other reason don't have one, but wish to have one. It isn't necessary, but it is helpful for some.
